The Institute for the Study and Treatment of Loss, directed by Dr. Therese A. Rando, focuses on mental health issues related to loss, illness, and trauma. These include:

  • grief, mourning, bereavement
  • medical illness, disability, dying, death
  • traumatic stress, victimization, PTSD
  • violence
  • high-risk deaths (acute natural death; accident; suicide; homicide; disaster; loss of a child; overly-lengthy illness - e.g., AIDS, cancer, ALS)

South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program -- SCLEAP

SCLEAP is an employee assistance program serving needs of South Carolina law enforcement officers, staff members, and their families, through training, seminars, and personal services.

Law Enforcement Chaplaincy for South Carolina

The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy for South Carolina, directed by Board Chairman Steve Hamm, is a not-for-profit support service for the law enforcement community and crime victims in South Carolina.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (SC Chapter)

The AFSP is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the understanding and prevention of suicide through education, research and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. There are currently 39 community based chapters, including a South Carolina chapter.
